Kirstie Alley's Weight Loss: How She Did It
How did Kirstie Alley lose all that weight and lose the title of the "fat Kirstie Alley"? It started out after seeing a picture of her provided by none other then the paparazzi. She was disgusted at what she saw and couldn’t believe that she let herself get that heavy. Standing at six feet tall and 240 pounds Alley was considered obese which gave her motivation to finally get fit once and for all. The Kirstie Alley weight loss began with none other then Jenny Craig. To keep herself motivated Kirstie made some drastic changes in her home life. The Home of Kirstie Alley was transformed. Her living room was made into her workout room which holds a variety of exercise equipment and certainly contributed to Kirstie Alley’s weight loss.
"I like to do circuit training," she says. "I'm on each piece of equipment for a minute. In between each exercise I dance really hard. And then I dance at the end for about 20 minutes. … I do this anywhere from four to six times a week. And then I pretend like I'm Muhammad Ali at a disco. My routine is at least an hour. If it's a day where I have lots and lots of energy and not a lot of things to do, I do it for two hours."
Kirstie's diet has changed drastically, too. Besides Jenny Craig meals, her refrigerator is stocked with healthy snacks. "Cherrie my favorite fruit," she says. "Eggplant I like to slice these up and put these on the barbecue. Sometimes I have a little yogurt. I drink a lot of water. Sometimes I have a pickle. I don't like things that are really greasy anymore."
Kirstie lost a total of 75 pounds on the Jenny Craig weight loss program but the actress parted ways with Jenny announcing she is currently working on her own weight loss brand.
"I'm confident that I can create something exciting and innovative, something that if all goes well, will help change a fat America back into a fit America and will offer this country the healthiest, yummiest, easiest and most effective weight-loss program on the market."
But don't check your supermarket shelves for at least another year. Kirstie says her plan won't launch until 2009.
Nobody knows for sure what is included in the Kirstie Alley weight loss program, will it just be a rip off of Jenny Craig or will she come up with her own creation? There are numerous diet programs on the market making it hard to tell which one will work or not. I personally prefer NutriSystem. All you have to do is stick to the meal plan they give you, don’t have to worry about point counting, and its a lot easier to follow then Jenny Craig as well as cheaper.
My hope for Kirstie Alleys weight program is that it’s affordable and simple much like NutriSystem. She talks about reaching out to the masses and improving the future generations and health that can only be one if the product is simple and affordable. Not everyone can afford Jenny Craig, it’s kind of become of the yuppie weight loss program promoted by none other then rich celebrities.
